Josee, the Tiger & the Fish

Always reach for your dreams, and remember, the world isn’t so scary once you give it a chance

Everyone has something they want to strive for, but some of us may give up the pursuit if things seem or get too difficult; this is what the movie addresses, yet tells you not to forget your dreams.

Josee, the Tiger & the Fish follows Tsuneo, a student who dreams of studying abroad, and Josee, a girl who is wheelchair-bound. Tsuneo’s looking around for other part-time jobs to fund his study abroad in addition to his part-time job at a diving shop and, after a chance yet dramatic encounter with Josee, lands a job looking after her. From there, we see how the two of them get along, be it seeing the world from Josee’s eyes and how Tsuneo deals with looking after someone like Josee.

The Way of the Househusband

The daily life of a Yakuza househusband

Ever wondered what a member of the Yakuza gets up to when he leaves the Family/Clan? Well, here’s one possibility, and it’s such a treat to watch.

Tatsu is our MC for The Way of the Househusband (Gokushufudō), and he’s known as the legendary “Immortal Dragon”. He suddenly disappeared from the criminal underworld and now turned up as a househusband, trying to adjust to the new life he has decided to lead. But he can’t, and it’s just hilarious.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn – Prologue

A man of no consequence

ffxva.png

With the news of Tetsuya Nomura’s departure from Square Enix resulting in a stop to the development of upcoming DLC for Final Fantasy XV (FFXV), it was nice to know that at least would be getting Episode Ardyn. Not only that, we get a prologue to his DLC just as we did with Noctis and Co in FFXV: Brotherhood.

Ardyn Izunia is quite an interesting villain in my opinion, but he had very little screen time, hence the DLC which hopefully fleshes out his character a lot more. Yet, you have to love how much impact he has to the story whenever he turns up (which isn’t a lot until the final chapters of FFXV, but if you haven’t played the game or seen the cut-scenes, what are you waiting for?!). But he wasn’t always a villain as Episode Ardyn here shows, and I’m sure there was some mention of this in the game.

Death Parade

One does not simply die

dp

You find yourself in a lift/elevator which stops on a floor. You see another person in a lift/elevator next to yours, and you both wonder where you are. You walk through the room and see a bartender. He greets you and tells you that you cannot leave the bar until you play a game, and you will find out why you’re there when someone wins.

Wait, what? Continue reading “Death Parade”

Classroom of the Elite

Classroom of Mystery

cote

We’ve all been to high school, or currently at high school depending on your age, but you’ll agree with me when you first get a glimpse of Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School and wonder why we never had such a school. It’s secluded from the Tokyo mainland and has an amazing campus (think University meets retail park/mall), and 100% of students either go on to college or straight into a job. What more can you ask for from a school that has it all and gives you a guaranteed job/place in college at the end?

Well they are even more generous than that. Each student gets their own smartphone, and at the start of each month they’re told they will be receiving 100,000 points which is basically 100,000 yen. With this they can buy anything and everything available on campus, be it clothes, food and consoles. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Mob Psycho 100

Psychic One Punch Man

mp100

It’s been a while my readers, but I am still around! Just been busy here and there, but I haven’t forgotten about blogging. I would say this mini but unintended break was for the best, what with me being able to check out some new anime without feeling the need to rush in making reviews.

And what better way to come back than with Mob Psycho 100. It’s made by the creator of One Punch Man, which I must say is such a good anime that I’m watching it again (expect a revisited review!). Mob Psycho has elements from One Punch Man, but it’s in its own universe.

Overlord

Who said the game was over?

ol

So after watching one episode, I reviewed Overlord and then dropped the series. I didn’t give it the benefit of the doubt back then, but I did this time, and I realised how much I was missing and how bad my first review must have been. Overlord is definitely better than what my review (may or may not) say, but then again I haven’t gone back to check what I wrote. You can check it on my Blogger (not giving you a link because this review will sell Overlord to you). Continue reading “Overlord”

The Royal Tutor

Why can’t all tutors be this amazing?

trt

I actually can’t remember what made me want to watch this, but it’s just adorable and funny. I’d end my review there, but there’s a lot more to talk about than just saying it’s adorable and funny.

When I got into the first few minutes of the The Royal Tutor, it felt like it had some Diabolik Lovers vibes going on, but fortunately this proved to be wrong. Not that Diabolik Lovers is a bad anime in my opinion; the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, and for me it was curiosity that made me watch the entire series. But we’ll get on to this topic in a sec. Continue reading “The Royal Tutor”
